This page explains how to permanently delete your Bihar Shaadi Matrimony account (published on Google Play and the App Store by Cognitive Squad) and what happens to your data when you do.
Delete your account in the app
- Open the Bihar Shaadi Matrimony app and sign in.
- On the home screen, tap the menu icon (☰) and choose “Account Settings”.
- Scroll down and tap “Delete Account”.
- In the confirmation dialog (“Delete Account?”), tap “Confirm Delete”.
Your profile and sign-in account are removed immediately, and deletion of remaining data completes within the timelines below.
No longer have the app?
Email contact@cognitivesquad.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request” from the email address linked to your account, or include the mobile number you registered with. We verify the request and delete the account within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your profile — name, date of birth, gender, photos, education, occupation, income details, community details (religion, caste, subcaste, gothra), health details, family details, and location details (hometown and current location)
- Your sign-in account (phone number / Google / Apple login)
- Your partner preferences, matches, interests and shortlists
- Your chat messages and call history
- Your notifications and device push tokens
Your profile and sign-in account are removed immediately when you confirm deletion. Remaining data is deleted within 30 days, and data in encrypted backups is purged within 90 days, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
What is kept, and for how long
- Payment and subscription records — kept as required for tax, accounting and legal obligations. Subscription billing is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store; their records are governed by their own policies.
- Safety and moderation records — reports filed against an account (for example for fraud or child-safety concerns) are retained while required to enforce our Child Safety Standards and to comply with law enforcement obligations.
- Data we must keep by law — where Indian law requires longer retention, we keep only the minimum necessary.
